When using your iron, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
1
Use iron only for its intended use.
2
To protect against a risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron in water or other liquids.
The iron should always be turned to "O " before plugging or unplugging from the outlet.
3
Never yank cord to disconnect from the outlet; instead, grasp plug and pull to disconnect.
Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces. Let iron cool completely before putting away.
4
Loop cord loosely around iron when storing.
Always disconnect iron from the electrical outlet when filling with water or emptying and when not in use. The plug must be removed
5
from the socket-outlet before the water resevoir is filled with water.
6
The iron is not to be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage, or if it is leaking.
Do not operate iron with a damaged cord or if the iron has been dropped, damaged. To avoid the risk of
7
electric shock, do not disassemble the iron. Take it to a qualified serviceperson for examination and repair.
Incorrect reassembly can cause a risk of electric shock when the iron is used.
Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children. Do not leave iron unattended while
8
connected or on an ironing board. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities, or lack
9
of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
10
The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface.
Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use caution when you turn a steam iron
11
upside down - there may be hot water in the reservoir.
If the malfunction indicator goes on, the flatiron is not operating normally.
12
Disconnect from the power supply and have the flatiron serviced by a qualified service personnel.
13
When placing the iron on its stand, ensure that the surface on which the stand is placed is stable.
To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance
1
on the same circuit.
If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 15-ampere cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage can result in a risk of fire
2
or electric shock due to overheating. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over.
This iron uses hot steam! To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).
3
This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
4
Never direct fill the iron from a water tap while the iron is plugged into a power source.
5
