Our CT-4 Cross Trainer heart rate monitor is reading 0 regardless of how long or how many times the heart rate grips are held during training. In the Diagnostic Mode, the HR Monitor window shows a "grayed out" rate of 255. Any suggestions you can provide for troubleshooting/calibrating/resolving this issue would be appreciated. Thank you.

To troubleshoot the heart rate monitor issue on the Core Health & Fitness Star Trac 4-CT Cross Trainer:
1. Check Connections – Ensure the heart rate monitor sensors or chest strap are properly connected and in good condition. 2. Clean Sensors – Wipe the hand sensors with a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt or sweat that may interfere with readings. 3. Verify Contact – If using hand sensors, maintain firm and consistent contact without excessive grip pressure. 4. Check User Setup – Ensure user information is correctly entered in the console for accurate heart rate calculations. 5. Restart the Machine – Power off the unit, wait a few minutes, and restart to reset the system. 6. Inspect for Damage – Check the wiring and components for any visible damage or loose connections. 7. Test with Another User – Have a different user attempt to get a reading to rule out individual sensor issues. 8. Update Firmware – If applicable, ensure the console firmware is up to date. 9. Contact Support – If the issue persists, service may be required to replace faulty components.
The "grayed out" rate of 255 in Diagnostic Mode may indicate a sensor failure or a connection issue.
