Motor control device guidelines

The transfer pump should always be ramped up to desired speed during
startup and ramped down to stop during shutdown. Abruptly stopping the
pump by removing power may cause premature failure of the pumping
mechanism or a hazardous condition. If an electric motor is used to drive the
pump, a soft starter or variable frequency drive (VFD) should be included in
the motor control circuit to achieve this. The FTS300 can be operated in both
the forward (1) and reverse (2) directions. If it is desired to be able to run the
pump in both directions, the circuit design should include this option. If using a
hydraulic motor, pump rotation should be initiated and then pump speed
ramped up to the desired point. The FTS300 can be operated in both the
forward (1) and reverse (2) directions. If it is desired to be able to run the
pump in both directions, the hydraulic motor supply circuit should be designed
accordingly. If using a combustion engine to drive the pump, pump rotation
should be initiated and then pump speed ramped up to the desired point.
