    Neither the suction chamber nor the pistons in the roots pump in the roots pump interior are provided with corrosion protection. Storage Pfeiffer Vacuum recommends storing the products in their original transport packaging. Procedure 1. Vacuum-seal both connection flanges. 2. Store the roots pump only in dry, dust-free rooms, within the specified ambient conditions.

The type of lubricant specified for the gear and bearing chambers, and the fill quantity for the entire roots pump are shown on the rating plate.

    Operation 6.7 Restarting NOTICE Damage to the roots pump from significant temperature fluctuation If the housing cools down too quickly due to external influences, there is a risk of contact being made between the rotor at warm operating temperature, and the colder pump housing. This will result in irreversible pump damage.

    You can carry out maintenance work at Maintenance Level 1 yourself. We recommend Pfeiffer Vacuum Service for carrying out maintenance work of Maintenance Level 2 and Maintenance Level 3 (revision). If the required intervals listed below are exceeded, or if mainte- nance work is carried out improperly, no warranty or liability claims are accepted on the part of Pfeiffer Vacuum.

    The usable life may deviate from the reference value specified depending on thermic and chemical loads, or due to penetrating process media in gear and bearing chambers.     A decreasing oil level, with no leaked oil visible below the roots pump, is due to a worn inner radial shaft seal ring. ► Should this occur, arrange for maintenance to be carried out by Pfeiffer Vacuum Service, during which all 3 radial shaft seal rings and the protective sleeve are replaced.
