Head Cleaning
Cleaning intervals
After every 50 operating hours for reading/writing,
head cleaning is required. This period is equivalent to
that for reading/writing 4.2 terabytes of data without
compression.
When the warning code "- - - - - - -*1" appears in the
display window, clean the head.
Cleaning method
Insert the GW-90CL or GW-90LCL Cleaning
Cassette, and the tape will automatically clean the
head. Usually head cleaning completes within about 5
seconds.
When cleaning is finished, the cassette is automatically
ejected.
Notes
• The authorized cleaning cassette GW-90CL or GW-
90LCL should be used for head cleaning. If another
cleaning cassette is used, performance cannot be
guaranteed.
• Do not rewind and reuse a cleaning cassette.
Regular Maintenance
Some parts of this unit need to be regularly checked or
replaced. Consult your Sony representative for the
time to check or replacement as they are specified.
Repacking
When shipping the unit, use the original packing
materials.
Sony will not be responsible for damage caused by
improper packing.
