Location and Function of Parts
1 COMP (data compression) lamp (orange)
Indicates the status as shown below.
The lamp is lit when
• the compressed data is being read.
• the noncompressed data is not being read, and the
COMP switch is set to ON (compression).
• Compression mode has been set with the MODE
SELECT command.
The lamp goes out when
• the noncompressed data is being read.
• the compressed data is not being read, and the COMP
switch is set to OFF (noncompression).
• Nocompression mode has been set with the MODE
SELECT command.
2 ERROR lamp (red)
Lit if an error occurs while the unit is being starting up
or during an operation such as writing or reading data
from or to a tape or a load, unload, initialization or
recovery operation.
3 Cassette slot
Insert a cassette.
4 Display window
Shows the operating status, error messages, etc.
5 I/O lamp (green)
Lit while the unit is executing an SCSI command.
6 BUSY lamp (orange)
Lit while a tape is loaded in the unit.
It blinks during a load, unload, initialization or
recovery operation, etc.
7 POWER lamp (green)
Lit while power is supplied to the unit.
8 UNLOAD button
Press to load or unload a cassette.

1) After turning the power on, these five lamps are lit.
When the unit is ready to accept the SCSI command and
the operation of the buttons on the front panel, the lamps
other than the POWER lamp goes out.

9 Power switch
1)
Turns the power supply to the unit ON or OFF.
0 COMP (data compression control) switch
Sets whether the data to be stored is to be compressed
or not.
SCSI: The data is compressed.
ON: The data is compressed.
OFF: The data is not compressed.
!¡ Contrast control
Adjusts the contrast of the display window.
!™ EJECT hole
If an inserted cassette cannot be ejected, insert a
slender rod through this hole and push.
For details, see "Cassette insertion and removal."
!£ DIAG (diagnosis) hole
For maintenance.
!¢ RECOVER hole
If the tape has not been unloaded correctly, insert a
slender rod through this hole and push to recover the
tape.
2) This position is for function expansion. At this position,
the same operation as when the COMP switch is set to
ON is obtained under the current specifications. If the
specification are changed in the future, a supplement will
be published.
