ASSEMBLING THE GATE SYSTEM
At least 2 people should work together to assemble this gate system. Numbers in parentheses () correspond to
item numbers in the bills of materials on p. 4 & 5.
Step 1: Install the side gates (1). As shown in the
diagram, determine the necessary clear width of the
aisle (measured between inside edges of mounting
brackets). Secure the gates to the surface with
flat washers and anchor bolts of appropriate length
as determined by your building engineer. Orient the
gates so that the bolt holes in the top rails are at the
same end. The bolt holes should also be opposite
the edge of the mezzanine.

Step 3: Attach braces (2) and gussets (5 & 6) with carriage bolts (9) and lock nuts (12).

Step 2: Determine the width the gates need to be. Cut
2"x4" lumber appropriately. The length of each plank

should be 6

" more than the clear width you selected in

step 1. Fasten each plank to the 2 gate frame pieces (4)
with 2 rail support brackets (7) and 4 sets of carriage
bolts (11) and lock nuts (12). Use a 7/16" drill to make
bolt holes in the planks.
