a. With a basic understanding of
kickback you can reduce or eliminate
the element of surprise. Sudden
surprise contributes to accidents.
b. Keep a good grip on the saw with
both hands on the rear handle, and
the left hand on the front handle,
when the engine is running. Use a
firm grip with thumbs and fingers en-
circling the chain saw handles. A firm
grip will help you reduce kickback and
maintain control of the saw.
c. Make certain that the area in
which you are cutting is free from
obstructions. Do not let the nose of
the guide bar contact a log, branch,
or any other obstruction, which
could be hit while you are operating
the saw.
d. Cut at high engine speeds.
e. Do not overreach or cut above
shoulder height.
f. Follow the manufacturer's sharpe-
ning and maintenance instructions
for the saw chain.
g. Only use replacement bars and
chains specified by the manufacturer
of the equivalent.
h. When trying to cut a trunk with a
diameter greater than the length of
the sword, make the last cut holding
the claw in the back of the future
and cutting in the fan. As a general
rule, it is not possible to cut logs with
a diameter greater than the length
of the bar.
21. Never start the engine in places
without abundant ventilation: the
exhaust gases are harmful.
22. During the cutting process,
particles of sawdust, chips and lubri-
cation oil are released from the chain.
Wear protective glasses, mask and
avoid cutting positions in which the
flow of these materials is directed
towards the face.
23. The operation of the chainsaw
produces vibrations that are trans-
mitted to the operator. Working with
her for long periods of time without
rest and without the use of suitable
gloves can cause disorders of the
nervous system, peripheral circulation
of the hand and arm and swelling due
to loss of blood flow of the finger
(white fingers).
24. Always use approved spare parts.
The use of unsuitable material can
reduce the safety of the chain saw.
25. Use the vibration and sound
power data provided in this manual
to calculate the permissible exposure
times according to the type of work
performed. This information is
available in the local regulations on
occupational risk prevention.
