4.4 Risks of using inappropriate fuel
The Saey Peak was made solely to burn wood and briquettes.
More information on using the right fuel can be find in chapter 5
4.5 Risks of shutting down the air supply
As long as the flames look yellow / orange the fresh air supply may never be disconnected.
4.6 Risks of bad chimney functioning
Good functioning of your stove requires an adequate air transit in your chimney. Especially in spring
and autumn or in case of bad weather conditions ( strong winds, storm, fog, ...) this may occur very
frequently. Please keep this in mind as a very important topic.
In case of long inactivity of your stove, make sure to check chimney and other conducts for clogging.
Check this frequently.
The law prescribes to clean the fume conducts on annual basis
4.7 Things to do in case of chimney fire
We advise you to take the following steps in case of chimney fire:
Seal off the air supply
-
Call the fire brigade
-
When cleaning entrances are foreseen, make sure they are well accessible ( e.g. basement,
-
attic, ... )
Remove all inflammable objects from the chimney
-
Before taking your stove in use again ask an expert to check your stove and chimney first
-
This expert must also examine the cause for the chimney fire and solve the problem
-
HINT! A stove makes that tar residues remain behind in your chimney after having burnt. When you
heat up your stove 10 minutes each day at maximal power, these residues will be burnt, which will
result in minimizing the risk for chimney fire. Also the window will be kept cleaner for a much longer
time.
