INSTALLATION MANUAL

OVERVIEW

This manual provides information about the use and correct installation of the 4" motor
of the OM4A series.
Any inappropriate use of the motor could cause damage to it and to the motor's installation
and would invalidate the guarantee of the product.
These instructions refer to standard installation; for any specialized installation, contact
Ebara's Technical Assistance Department.

DESCRIPTION OF THE OM4A MOTOR

• Lubricated bearing support.
• Stator bathed in food-grade, non-toxic oil guaranteeing improved electrical insulation
and effective refrigeration.
• Removable cable.
• Stainless steel AISI 201 external motor casing.
• Splined shaft end (Standard NEMA coupling).
• Upper bracket in cast iron.
• Cover of upper bracket in stainless steel.
• Motor sealing provided by mechanical seal and sand retractor.
• Pressure balancing diaphragm.
• Insulation class B.

PRELIMINARY INSPECTION

• Visually check the integrity of the motor to look for any damages caused in transport.
Verify the tension of the power supply system according to the application.
• Manually verify whether the shaft turns freely.
• If the motor remains stored for more than a year, check the level of the oil; if there is a
need for more oil, please contact Ebara's Technical Assistance Department.
• Verify the insulation resistance with a megohmmeter before installation; in the case of
a new motor, resistance should be greater than 100 Mohms (500Vdc).
