    General Information General Information The battery enables the use of your EPM-P power meter in operating environments where there is no convenient access to an ac power source. With the battery option installed and the power meter connected to an ac power source, the meter operates from the ac source and the battery runs in a controlled charge mode.

    Battery Operation Battery Operation Running Times For a single channel EPM-P power meter, a fully charged battery is typically sufficient for up to 160 minutes continuous operation with the backlight off, and up to 110 minutes with the backlight on. For a dual channel EPM-P power meter, a fully charged battery is typically sufficient for up to 75 minutes continuous operation with the backlight off, and up to 45 minutes with the backlight on.
  • Page 4 Battery Operation Charging Times The battery charges automatically when the power meter is connected to an ac source. From an empty state, the battery is fully charged in approximately 3 hours. Backlight Working with the backlight off reduces the drain on the battery and increases the operating time.

    Battery Removal/Replacement Battery Removal/Replacement The battery unit is easily removed and replaced. Follow the instructions given in Figure 2. To obtain a replacement or spare battery unit for your EPM-P Option K01 order Agilent part number E9287A. W A R N I NG This product uses a Nickel Metal Hydride battery.
  • Page 6 Battery Removal/Replacement Using a flat headed screwdriver, turn the two spring-loaded catches one quarter turn anti-clockwise. Holding the catches, pull the battery assembly clear of its slot in the power meter. Support the closure assembly on a flat surface. Pinch the release tab between finger and thumb while - lightly pressing down on the battery module.
