d) Temperature measurement

When measuring temperatures, only the temperature sensor may be subjected
to the temperature to be measured. Do not exceed or deceed the DMM's operat-
ing temperature to prevent measuring errors.
The contact temperature sensor may be used on voltage-free surfaces only.
Enclosed with the DDM is a thermocouple with banana plugs that can be used to measure
temperatures between -40 and +230 °C. An optional type K thermocouples is required to use
the DMM's full measuring range (-40 to +1000 °C). An optional temperature measuring adapter
with type K socket is required to connect most type K thermocouples with miniature connector.
The adapter is not included.
All type K thermocouples can be used for temperature measurement. The temperature can be
displayed in °C or °F.
Proceed as follows to measure temperatures:
- Turn on the DMM and select the measuring range "°C". The
display shows the symbols for temperature measurement.
- Connect the included thermocouple correctly by inserting the
red plug (positive pole) into the V measuring socket (10) and
the black plug (negative pole) into the COM test socket (9).
For other type K thermocouples use an optional type K adap-
tor.
- The display shows the temperature value in °C.
- Use the SELECT key to switch the unit from °C to °F. Each
time you press the key, the unit is switched.
- If the display shows OL, the measurement range was ex-
ceeded or the thermocouple is defective.
- Remove the thermocouple and turn off the DMM after meas-
urement.
If the test input is bypassed (sockets: °C - COM), the device temperature of the DMM
is displayed. Due to the closed housing, the temperature will adjust to the surround-
ings very slowly.
