(Slight) ventilation occurs even if the base unit is right next to the wall.
c Protective base
Installation of a protective base under the cooktop is allowed but not required.
If a protective base is installed, there must be a minimum gap of 5¹/₈" (130 mm)
between the top of the countertop and the top of the protective base in order to
allow ventilation of the cooktop.
Leave a gap of 3" (75 mm) at the back to accommodate the power cord.
