FAST TRACK GUIDE For those familiar with TRACE ELLIOT graphic preamplifiers here is a quick run through the facilities to get you plugged in and playing as soon as possible. With the correct mains power connected to the mains inlet of your amplifier, and your choice of speaker or speakers connected to the speaker output sockets, turn on the power to the unit with the rear panel power switch. -

FRONT PANEL FACILITIES The Front Panel is fully lit over its entire surface using the latest in Electroluminescent technology. This is a purely practical application of illumination to enable the setting of every control to be clearly seen in even the darkest environment. The panel is permanently lit and has a comprehensive protection circuit to ensure reliable operation for many years. - Page 4 The OUTPUT LEVEL control should be used to make any changes to the overall amplifier volume whilst the INPUT GAIN control is left set at its optimum position to suit your instrument. To set these two controls correctly use the following procedure: - First turn the OUTPUT LEVEL control to zero.
- Page 5 Do not fully boost just one frequency band, as this will tend to emphasize a small range of notes on the bass producing a PEAKY and not very usable sound. Do not boost or cut all frequency bands as this will just produce an overall change in volume with very little tonal alteration.
- Page 6 If you have used any full range compression then you will know what we mean. That was before the TRACE ELLIOT SMX and now the 12-BAND range of amplifiers where we developed a compressor in which the bass signal is split into its HIGH and LOW frequency components, and each passes through its own compressor, one optimized for LOW frequencies and one optimized for HIGH frequencies.
- Page 7 Effects Send and Return The GP7 preamp is provided with a serial effects loop and the sockets for this are located on the front panel. The EFFECTS SEND socket is for linking the preamp sound into your effects unit and the EFFECTS RETURN socket for returning the signal back to the preamp.

It is interesting to note that a TRACE ELLIOT speaker rated at 200Watts will happily handle 50% or even 100% more power than its rating as long as the signal is clean, (no clipping distortion), but will quickly ‘burn-out’... -
Page 9: Speaker Outputs
The AH150-7 produces a minimum of 150Watts RMS power into a 4-Ohm load and the AH300-7 produces a minimum of 300Watts RMS power into a 4-Ohm load. On both amplifier heads there are two speaker output jack sockets provided, allowing two speaker cabinets to be connected. - Page 10 7215 and 7210H Combos The 7210H and 7215 combos produce around 200Watts into their respective internal speakers which provide an 8-Ohm load in both cases. There is an additional output socket on the rear of both combos to allow an additional 8-Ohm cabinet to be used. They will then produce the full 300Watts into the combined 4-Ohm load.
