    The CH-LDV 1010B is a Portable DVD Player with a large 10 inch LCD screen. It can play your favorite MP3 files or view JPG files from your digital camera. It’s got everything you need to take it out on the open road and when you come back home, become a part of your home theater system.

    Make sure the package contents are complete In addition to the DVD player, your package should contain the following accessories.     To use the remote control The DVD player comes complete with a remote control. Just pull the plastic tab in the remote control to activate the battery. The plastic tab - which covers the battery terminals - extends the life of the battery. *Please note that some models will not include this plastic tab.

    FRONT PANEL FUNCTIONS LCD SCREEN The DVD Player’s LCD Screen. DISC DOOR Open disc door to insert discs for playback. DISC DOOR BUTTON Push to open the disc door. LCD BUTTON Closing the LCD screen activates the button to turn off the LCD display. MONITOR Change the Audio Video Input / Output mode.

    Using the function menu The Function key - located on the front panel of the unit - allows you to access various functions including the Setup Menu and battery status among others. Press the Function Key on the front panel of the unit to access the on-screen Function Menu.

    Preparing the external battery pack for use The DVD player comes complete with an external battery pack to allow playback without any AC power source. Before using the battery pack the first time, you must first charge it. Connect the battery pack to the AC adapter as shown below.

    Detaching the external battery pack Detach the battery pack from the DVD player if you will be storing the unit for an extended period of time. The unit will continue to consume power while the battery pack is attached and turned off. Over discharge of the battery pack will lead to reduced service life time.

    INTERNAL BATTERY PACK (OPTIONAL) Preparing the internal battery The optional Internal Battery Pack extends the playing time by over an hour. The optional internal battery pack must be charged with the charger before use. Before using the battery pack the first time, you must first charge it.

    Detaching the internal battery pack Removal of the battery pack from your unit for recharging is the reverse of installation. Turn the DVD player upside down as shown below. To remove the battery door, press the tab to disengage the lock.

    DVD PLAYER CONNECTIONS EARPHONE JACK Connect to the included earphones for a private listening environment. POWER CORD SOCKET - DC IN 9V Main power socket for the unit. Connect to the car adapter or AC power adapter.     USING DVD PLAYER CONNECTIONS Using the car adapter The DVD player comes complete with a car adapter to connect to your car’s power receptacle. To use the car adapter in your vehicle, simply plug in the car adapter into the car’s power receptacle as depicted below and the other end into the unit’s ‘DC IN 9V’...

    AUDIO / VIDEO CONNECTIONS Connecting the video output to your TV In order to use this DVD player with your TV, a few cable connections are necessary. The capabilities of your TV will determine the connections you can use. There are 3 possible connection types: Composite Video - The most widely used connection.

    S-Video This is a higher quality connection than standard composite video. The S-Video connector is distinguishable by its 4 pins, as shown below. If your TV has an S-Video input, it’s recommended that you use this type of connection for better picture quality. Connect the Composite / S-Video cable to the unit’s Video Out connector and the black S-Video connector to the corresponding S-Video input on your TV.

    Audio Output Connections The DVD player features a variety of audio line outputs for connection to a TV or receiver. Use the included Audio cable to connect the stereo analog audio outputs for connection to a TV or recording equipment. Or you can use the digital optical audio output to send an encoded digital bit stream to a receiver, suitable for receivers with Dolby Digital decoding capability.
  • Page 21 Connecting external audio video source Your DVD player can become an audio video output device - using the LCD and speakers - for most camcorders, VCR’s, etc. For example, you can use your camcorder’s composite video and analog stereo outputs to connect to the unit for playback. Use the included Video Cable to connect the Video Output of your output device (Camcorder, etc) to the unit’s Video (Input) connector.

    Powering on and off the unit Only after all connections are complete, connect the power cord. Slide the “On / Off” switch on the rear panel of the player to the “On” position to activate the power of the device, and then power on the unit.

    Using disc menus Playing a disc from the “root” menu Most DVDs will automatically display a menu after the disc is inserted. This first menu is the first of possibly many layers, and is therefore known as the “root” menu. Notice that the player’s front display shows ROOT when this menu is accessed.

    Using the bookmark function Mark a point on the disc to come back to later with the BOOKMARK feature. For instance, if you see an interesting scene and would like to watch it again when the DVD movie is over, add a bookmark. You can add up to twelve bookmarks which also can be used with VCDs and Audio Compact discs.

    VIEWING JPG IMAGES ON YOUR TV Viewing a JPG slide show You can view JPG picture files stored on CD-R/RW discs individually or in slide show mode on your TV. JPG is the standard format for pictures stored on digital cameras, the Internet and many other applications.

    DOLBY DIGITAL Default setting: RAW SPDIF ( Sony / Phillips Digital InterFace ) refers to the digital audio format used by most consumer electronics equipment. If you are using the Stereo Audio Output, change this setting to PCM. Generally, the RAW setting is used with receivers capable of Dolby Digital 5.1 channel decoding, while the PCM setting is reserved for two channel equipment.
