    Caring for Optical Discs Handling of Discs: Please hold the disc by gripping the rim or by placing the index finger in the central hole. Never touch the signal surface, which is shiny. This applies to both sides of double sided discs. Cleaning of Discs: Finger prints or stains on the surface of the disc may cause signal loss.

    Preparing and Using the Remote Control Installing the Battery If the remote control only operates when you get closer to the DVD Player, it may indicate that the battery is weak. Please replace the battery (Lithium battery) simultaneously with a new battery of the same type (CR 2025). Please note the positive (+) side is facing upwards when the remote is held as shown below.

    Power Supply (1) Using the AC adapter You can use the AC Power Adapter to conserve your battery life if there’s an AC Outlet nearby. Once AC Power is applied, the unit will be in STANDBY Mode. STANDBY mode lets you awake system quickly by using the remote control POWER Button, or the unit’s ON button.

    Power Supply (2) Using and Charging the Battery Pack Charge the Battery Pack before using it for the first time. Normally, the Battery Pack can be charged around 500 times. With normal daily use, your Battery Pack can last for 1.5 years. When fully charged, the Battery Pack can operate an estimated 3 ~ 4 hours of continuous playback.

Even if the unit is powered down, the unit is still consuming some power in STANDBY Mode. This could lead to over discharging of the battery.

    Getting Started - Powering On & Playing a Disc After Power is Applied Once power is applied to the DVD Player, turn on the unit either by remote or the front panel’s Power button. At this moment, you will see the Player’s Power Indicator is Green (See pg 31). Once there is a disc inside and the disc lid is closed, your player starts to play automatically.

    Playing MP3 Files with the MP3 Navigator Your DVD Player is also a Feature-Packed MP3 Player! When you insert an MP3 disc, the player will launch the MP3 Navigator, an on-screen program that lets you easily select and play MP3 files stored on CD-R or CD-RW discs. The MP3 Navigator gives you several options for MP3 Playback, including Repeat and Shuffle modes.

    Built-in Screen Displaying Mode You can choose 4 types of Display Modes for the built-in screen. Your Player features four Display Modes - Full, Wide, Normal, and Off. In Full Mode, the full 16:9 display is used. This is ideal for movies recorded in widescreen format. In Wide Mode, a special function slightly compresses a 4:3 image so that it will look more normal using the full 16:9 widescreen display.

The CHILD menu is where you can set a password to control the Parental Lock and Reset functions, which let you limit the play of discs beyond a rating you specify, and reset the settings and password to factory defaults, respectively.

NTSC is the standard TV system used in the USA, Canada, Japan and many other countries, supporting 480 Lines at 60Hz.

    Audio Setup Options DIGITAL - DOLBY / DTS / LPCM Most DVDs are produced with Dolby or DTS 5.1 Channel soundtracks. So, normally this setting should be at the default of DOLBY/DTS. However, this setting can be set to LPCM to support DVDs featuring this type of audio format.
