STEP 2
(Figure 3). Run the black/white 2-conductor wires attached to the detector
up the wall and across the ceiling to opener terminals. Connect wires to
terminals by color as shown on the label.
NOTE: If your opener is equipped with a Lock Switch, be sure it is
OFF before proceeding to Step 3.
STEP 3
(Figure 4). Plug in the garage door opener to restore electric power.
Small red lamp in detector should GLOW.
If red lamp FLASHES after installation, check bracket position (see Step
1). Arrows should be horizontal to the floor. If brackets are installed
correctly, position of detector within mounting bracket may require
adjustment. Loosen detector case mounting screw and rotate detector. If
red lamp GLOWS, retighten mounting screw. Alignment is correct. If light
continues flashing after adjustment, check for:
1.
Dirt on the detector lens or sunlight shining directly into the lens,
causing interference.
2.
Shorts in yellow/yellow-green striped wires. These can occur under
staples or at screw terminals.
3.
Incorrect wiring of detector to emitter.
If no light glows in the detector lamp after installation, check for:
1.
Electric power to the opener.
2.
Shorts in the black/white wires. These can occur under staples or at
screw terminal connections.
3.
Incorrect wiring between detector and opener.
STEP 4
TEST THE PROTECTOR OBSTRUCTION SENSOR:
Place an obstacle in the path of the invisible light beam between detector
and emitter as the garage door is closing. The door must reverse and
return to full open position. NOTE: The garage door opener will not
respond to a CLOSE command if the red light in the detector is
flashing.
The garage door opener can be closed manually by pulling down on the
emergency release rope and handle connected to the trolley. (See the
Protector Handy Hints Label).
