Prior to using your lighting kit, please read these instructions carefully.
Keep them safe to have them at hand at any time. If you pass the lighting
kit on to somebody else, always include these instructions.
1. Intended use
The "studiolight E70 Kit" lighting kit is intended to be used for lighting
subject shots, portraits, video and film shots. It is not intended for hou-
sehold lighting.
2. Safety instructions
Please observe the following safety instructions and use the lighting kit
only as intended to avoid damages and injuries.
Avoid improper use of the lighting kit, e.g. with wrong voltages or in
connection with equipment not specifically de sig ned for this lighting kit.
Use only suitable lamps (see below). If these precautions are not obser-
ved, the lighting kit may be damaged and in extreme cases the lamp may
burst.
Make sure that the lights are not covered during operation and keep
them away at least 0.5 m (20 in.) from heat-sensitive materials.
Avoid touching the lamps during operation. Let them cool down after
use.
Prior to changing a lamp, disconnect the light from the mains and let it
cool down.
The lighting kit may only be serviced by qualified persons.
Do not expose the mains cable to excessive physical strain.
3. Scope of supply
The kit comprises two lighting units, each consisting of
- soft box with lamp socket and swivel joint
- daylight photoflood
- front diffuser
- light stand
and comes in a padded carrying case with shoulder strap.
The following instructions apply to one lighting unit. Please proceed ac-
cordingly with the second lighting unit.
4. Set-up
Do not connect the soft box with lamp socket to the mains yet!
Setting up the light stand: See fig. A – D. Loosen the respective locking
screw (1, 3 or 4) for adjustments and tighten them again. Maximum sta-
bility is achieved when the bars (2) are aligned parallel to the ground.
Attaching the soft box (fig E): Attach the soft box to the stand and tigh-
ten the screw (5). Position the soft box above one of the stand legs to en-
sure a safe stand.
You may also attach the swivel joint when rotated by 90° (fig. E1).
Opening up the soft box (fig. F): Push the ring (6) towards the socket un-
til it locks around the socket.
Inserting the lamp: See fig. G. Caution! Only use compact fluorescents
(energy saving lamps) up to 200 watt with max. 31 cm (12.2 in.) overall
length. Do not use incandescent lamps!
The front diffuser (heat-resistant fabric covering) (7) is used to achieve a
softer illumination. You may use the soft box with or without the front dif-
fuser.
Mounting the front diffuser (fig. H): Pull the front diffuser's corners
across the soft box corners and connect diffuser and soft box with the
Velcro fasteners (8) midway of each side.
5. Putting into operation
Make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the operating voltage
given on the type plate of the soft box. Then connect the light to the
mains.
The soft box is switched on/off with switch (10).
6. Tilting the soft box (fig. I)
Loosen the blocking screw (9) and adjust the soft box in the desired po-
sition. While doing this hold the soft box in the middle of the lower or up-
per edge. Tighten the locking screw (9) again.
7. Adjusting the height of the stand (fig. D)
You may adjust the height of the stand after releasing the locking screws
(3) or (4). Hold the moving section of the stand, in order that the soft box
can not move downwards due to its own weight and the lamp may be
damaged. Tighten the respective locking screws again.
8. Folding the soft box together (fig. K)
Disconnect the light form the mains, let the lamp cool down, take off the
front diffuser (7) unscrew the lamp from the socket and pull the ring (6)
away from the socket.
9. Changing the lamp
Disconnect
the
light
form
down, take off the front diffuser (7) and replace the lamp by a new one.
Caution! Only use compact fluorescents (energy saving lamps) up to 200
watt with max. 31 cm (12.2 in.) overall length. Do not use incandescent
lamps!
