When you connect the machine, the following messages should appear in the LCD.
IMPORTANT
For important safety instructions on installation and handling of the machine, see p. xiii of the Basic Guide.
NOTE
Make sure the correct paper size is specified in the machine. For details, see p. 2-7 of the Basic Guide.
Set the fax receive mode.

Press [FAX] .

Press [Receive Mode] .

Press [ ] or [
receive mode.
Select from the following:
- <FAX ONLY MODE> to automatically receive faxes only. Voice calls will be
disconnected.
- <MANUAL MODE> for the machine to ring for fax and voice calls. Fax calls must be
answered manually.
- <ANS. MACHINE MODE> to receive faxes automatically and route voice calls to an
answering machine connected to your machine.
- <DRPD> to distinguish between fax and voice calls by using Distinctive Ring Pattern
Detection.

Press [Set] to return to the standby mode.
