Usage Notes

Use and Storage

Do not subject the unit to severe shocks
The internal mechanism may be damaged or the body
warped.
Do not cover the unit while operating
Doing so will cause temperatures to rise inside the unit,
possibly resulting in failure.
Do not place objects on top of the unit
Objects placed on top of the unit may fall, possibly
causing an accident or injury.
Use only under normal operating conditions
Always use the unit under specified normal operating
conditions to ensure correct performance.
Use only genuine parts
Always use only genuine cables and other parts to ensure
optimum performance.
Do not relocate the unit
The main unit is quite heavy, and relocating it is fraught
with hazard. Do not attempt to relocate the unit by
yourself.
Contact your Sony distributor if you wish to relocate the
unit.
Before use
Always perform the following before using the unit.
• Check that all tanks are installed and securely
connected.
• Check the fluid levels in the tanks.
• Check that the sheath filter is correctly installed.
If not using the unit for an extended period
Perform the following.
• Clean the unit according to the maintenance
procedures.
• After shutting down, open the fluidics maintenance
door on the left side and turn off the main power
switch, and remove the power cord from the power
outlet.
• Dispose of any waste fluid in the waste tanks in
accordance with laboratory rules and guidelines.
• Remove all sheath fluid from the sheath tank.
• Remove all DI water from the DI water tank.
• Close all doors.
• Store the unit on a level, stable surface.
Transporting the unit
Consult your Sony distributor.
Moving the unit
The unit is a high-precision piece of equipment. Moving
the unit can subject the unit to vibration or shock, and
may cause the unit to malfunction. If you wish to move
the unit, contact your Sony distributor to move and
recalibrate the unit.
Care of the unit
Shut down the unit and clean it with a clean, soft, lint-free
cloth. If the body of the unit is dirty, spray the cloth with
ethanol from a spray bottle. Always wear gloves when
cleaning to prevent bacterial contamination.
In the event of operating problems
Consult your Sony distributor.
Regular inspection
It is recommended that your Sony distributor regularly
inspect the unit once a year to ensure continued
performance.
Product disposal
When disposing of the product, always follow laboratory
rules and procedures for the decontamination of the
product to neutralize all biological hazards.
Disposal of consumables
Always follow the laboratory rules and guidelines when
disposing of used tubes, flow cell chips, gloves, and other
consumables.

Data backup

All instrument settings and measurement data are stored on
the hard disk in the host computer, and that data may
become corrupted or lost if any unforeseen troubles occur.
It is recommended that all data be backed up regularly.
SP6800 software
• Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express is installed on the
host computer together with SP6800 software. Refrain
from upgrading SQL Server, rewriting the database, or
performing other actions. Doing so may cause
unexpected problems.
• Refrain from launching other applications that
consume significant CPU resources or memory while
running SP6800 software. Doing so may cause
unexpected problems.
