1. Before Using the Prime Chuck ① T horoughly clean the inside and outside of the collet, shank of the tool, and hole inside the chuck. ② B low air into the slot hole of the collet to remove dust (see Fig. 1). ③ L ightly apply pure oil on the screws inside of the collet and the outer surface of the collet. 2. How to Clamp the Collet ① Engage the collet into the prime chuck and rotate the collet clockwise. (See Fig. 3.) ② I nsert the tool into the collet, hold the tool, and clamp it clockwise with an L wrench (see Fig. 4). 3. Warning ① Use a protective device when holding the blade of the tool. ② Tool shank tolerance of h6 is recommended for high-speed machining. ③ C lamp the shank of the tool as much as possible. If the length of the shank is insufficient, the cutter or the collet may be broken, or the chuck may be damaged. ④ Do not try clamping without tools. ⑤ When removing the collet and the tool, perform the procedures in reverse order. ⑥ When removing the tool, Pull it with the hands to prevent the cutter from flying. ⑦ Coolant for the prime chuck and collet is optional. ⑦-1. U se the prime chuck in a machine equipped with safety door interlock during high-speed machining. ⑦-2. 4. Precautions When mounting the cutting tool ① D o not use a damaged or cracked chuck or that with excessive runout. ② C ompletely remove foreign substances from the chuck and the cutting tool shank. ③ D o not use a cutting tool whose margin area is abraded by 0.4 mm or more. ④ H old the cutting tool with cloth or similar materials to prevent injury. ⑤ Use a tool whose shank tolerance is h7. ⑥ D o not use a cutting tool with notched or flat shank (see the figure on the right). During work ① If you feel vibration or trembling, stop the use of the tool. ② D o not touch the chuck or cutting tool while the spindle rotates. Others ① D o not leave the clamped nut long time when the cutting tool is not engaged. ② S AMCHULLY recommends using the full stud of the company. The full stud is one of the consumables and should be replaced every two years. ③ D o not use a full stud suspected to be damaged or deformed Tooling System...
