4.6 Fine Tuning

For the fine tuning, turn the turret in order to choose the lowest magnification lens. Look into the
eyepiece(s), and turn the light intensity control placed at the right of the microscope to obtain the desired
lighting.
Carry out macroscopic tuning (quick adjustment) using the coaxial control placed on each side of the
microscope and then, conduct the microscopic tuning (fine adjustment) so as to obtain a sharp image.
A complete rotation of the micrometric drum represents a movement of 0.2 mm. Each graduation
corresponds to 2 micrometers.
Go to a higher magnification by turning the turret and then adjusting the micrometric tuning again until
obtaining the clearer and more accurate image you desire.
Repeat the process until you reach the desired magnification.
Note: A « click » sound helps making sure that the magnification modification was made and that your
lens is on the optical path.
