About global roaming mode
If your BlackBerry® device normally connects to a CDMA network, your device is designed to connect to an appropriate CDMA, GSM®, or
UMTS network automatically when you turn on global roaming mode and travel.
Your wireless service provider must provide you with a SIM card that is set up for global roaming services before you can connect to a
GSM or UMTS network. When you insert the SIM card, your device switches to global roaming mode automatically. When you remove the
SIM card, your device scans for CDMA networks only. Your phone number does not change when your device switches to global roaming
mode.
For more information about global roaming and roaming fees, contact your wireless service provider.
Connect to a GSM or UMTS network
Insert a SIM card into your BlackBerry® device. For more information about inserting a SIM card, see the printed documentation that came
with your device.
To scan for CDMA networks again, in the device options, on the Mobile Network screen, set the Network Technology field to 1XEV.
Set the wireless networks to use with global roaming mode
Depending on your wireless service provider and the wireless network that your BlackBerry® device is connected to, this feature might
not be supported.
