    ® Configuring the SMP2 – D/R 1. LOG IN TO SMP2 – D/R AS AN ADMINISTRATOR The System Management Portfolio 2.0 – D/R is accessed either from the console ports or via a web browser from any computer on the same network as its server. The SMP2’s port number is :60090. Set the browser’s URL to your IP address (for example: https://192.168.75.92:60090/indexdr.html) to load the page.

    ® 2. USING SMP2 - D/R When SMP2 - D/R opens, there will be a selection of tabs along the bottom of the page. These are: Clicking on these tabs takes the user to the various pages used to set-up and manage SMP2 – D/R. The following graphics are screen shots from a hypothetical SMP2 –...
  • Page 12: Desks/Rooms Assignment

    ® There are seven tabs along the top of the ADMIN page, each with a separate function. Each function is discussed on the following pages. DESKS/ROOMS Assignment: First, the administrator creates a room and assigns desks to it. There must be at least one desk in a room. SRCS/POOLS Assignment: Next, the administrator creates a pool and assigns sources to it.

    ® POOLS/ROOMS Allocation: Finally, the administrator allocates pools to rooms. Once this process is complete, the system is ready for operation by Users. Note: Non alphanumeric characters will cause problems and must be avoided in the Source, Desk, Room and Pool names. These include; <, >, /, “, :, & and comma. However, letters, numbers, space, dash, period and single-underscore are acceptable.

    ® The DESKS/ROOMS Tab DESKS / ROOMS Tab allows the Administrator to do three functions: 1. Create Desks 2. Create Rooms 3. Assign Desks to Rooms The administrator creates desks by right-clicking in the DESKS field and selecting NEW DESK from the drop-down menu.
  • Page 15 ® Desks are assigned to rooms by selecting a room icon and the desired desk icons. Click SAVE when finished. Clicking on a Room name on the left will display the status of Desks in that Room on the right. Room RM101 has three Desks assigned (blue) and two Desks available (black).

    ® Delete or Open a Desk Right-clicking on a Desk name opens a drop-down menu to delete or open a Desk. Left-clicking on DELETE in the DESK2 drop-down menu, for example, will issue a warning, then require user verification, before removing DESK2. Left-clicking on OPEN PC1 opens a remote-control window for that desk that behaves the same as the deskapp application in use at the workstations.

    ® The POOLS/ROOMS Tab POOLS / ROOMS Tab is where the Administrator allocates Pools to Rooms. The system will display a table showing all assigned Pools and Rooms. The TOTAL row indicates the number of sources created in the corresponding pool. The FREE row shows sources that are currently unallocated.

    ® Special Allocations Special Allocations apply to a selected Desk in a Room and allows the administrator to reserve sources for that Desk from Pools other than what is normally assigned to that room. In this example, there are no special allocations initially. Right-clicking on a Room name allows the administrator to add special allocations to a Desk.

    ® The PRESETS Tab PRESETS Tab is where the administrator stores saved, pre-configured POOLS/ROOMS allocations for specific applications. Right-clicking in the PRESETS field shows ALLOCATION PRESETS drop-down menu for creating new presets. Left-click on a Preset tab on the left and its values are displayed to the right. Values can be changed by selecting the Room to be modified, then clicking within a field and typing in a new number.

    ® Right-clicking on a Preset shows a drop-down menu that allows it to be renamed, deleted or duplicated for use elsewhere. To run a preset, click on EXECUTE . The MTX (Matrix Switch) Tab This tab is used for adding and configuring Matrix Switches and includes the name Mtx Name MON1), the Matrix Switch Model.

    ® The HOT KEYS Tab This tab provides access to the Hot Key Manager and displays the default Hot Keys loaded into each extender, plus any additional Hot Keys as defined by the administrator. Hot Keys are a combination or sequence of keys that signal a specific function, such as Display the OSD or Switch the keyboard/mouse.

    ®  THE CONNECT TAB Tab’s Graphical User Interface makes it easy for administrators to make or break CONNECT Matrix Switch connections between Sources and Destinations with a few mouse-clicks. By clicking on a Pool in the tabs along the top left ( P-ALPHA in this case), the sources in that Pool are displayed below, at left.

    ® THE USER DESKTOP APPLICATION Once Sources, Pools, Desks and Rooms have been configured by the administrator, users can reserve and access their sources from the deskapp program, initiated by deskapp.exe double-clicking Desk PC1 Using the standard SMP2 terminology; • Sources are reserved from Pools to Desks by users.

(Note that this Desk has keyboard control of that Source as indicated by the keyboard icon.) To display Src 4-dvi on the right monitor, left-click the name on the right side. (Note that the keyboard icon is now with Src 4-dvi.) To give keyboard control back to Src 20-GLX-4, simply left-click within the monitor icon and keyboard control will move back to Src 20-GLX-4.

    ® Appendix A: Loading deskapp.exe onto a Windows Computer Once a system has been set up by the administrator, users can go to any of the Desks in a Room where they have access.     ® Appendix D: Enable Hot Keys (Out of Band) Hot Keys can be enabled or disabled on a Receiver Module with HID capabilities using the Chassis front panel LCD and Navigation Buttons.     ® Appendix E: Hot Keys HOT KEYS Syntax Users can customize their system’s performance and functions by programming the Hot Keys using the four columns in the HOT KEYS tab as shown below. Origin : The name of the keyboard where the Hot Keys sequence is entered. An asterisk * indicates all keyboards.
  • Page 34 ® SHARE CYCLE: There are two modes for this operation, described below: Src_1, Src_2 Connect first/only monitor associated with this keyboard (but not listed) to the first Source in the list (Src 2). Connect the keyboard named in Origin to the Source. Each subsequent Hot Key will cycle to the next Source listed, then back to the beginning.

    ® Adding HOT KEY Functions Add or modify Hot Key functions by right-clicking on the Origin, Code, Action or Details fields. For example, to add a field below an existing field, right-click and select INSERT BELOW. A new field will appear below the last row. Left-click a field to see the additional options available, such as Origin, Code and Action.

    ® Flex Keys Flex Keys is a Thinklogical Tool that installs onto a Windows Computer. Flex Keys gives the administrator the ability to create unique Hot Keys to enable actions that are not in Thinklogical’s Hot Key Code Defaults. The new hotkeys and codes are programmed into the Receiver where they are trapped and sent through the system to the SMP2-D/R.

  • Page 39 ® 5. Select the code desired, which will reflect a matching code in the Matrix Switch’s Hot Key Manager or may be a unique code for this application. A Code used here must be entered manually into the Matrix Switch’s Hot Key Manager for the action to be applied. Selecting Double Tap (as in “Scroll lock/Scroll lock”) requires only one key.

    ® 7. To restore a Receiver to its default settings: a. Open Flex Keys without reading the device. (No USB cable to the source.) b. Click on Send Keys to Host. This will send the default Key Table to the device. c.
  • Page 41 ® Left-click on the Key2 drop-down menu to select the Key 2 sequence. In this case, F1 is selected for Key 2. By left-clicking on the LOSOUT1 drop-down menu, users can select from a list of hex values, so that in this example, pressing L-Ctrl and F1 will execute the function associated with that value.
  • Page 42 ® By selecting Spec1 and Rd Kb (Read Keyboard) for LOSOUT2, thr receiver will “read” the next two numbers typed. The user must now enter a non-hex numerical value, which will become an action associated with L-Ctrl and F1. In this example the user may hit “L-Ctrl+F1, 2, 7” which will send a 27 code to the SMP2-D/R.

    ® Appendix F: Dashboard Dashboard is included software that can be used to configure the network interfaces, manage services and to enable and manage redundancy and file synchronization. The REDUNDANCY Tab This is where the system Redundancy is enabled and the ETH0 or ETH1 Interface is chosen.

The sync_install program requests periodic updates so the two sources can communicate with each other and share any recent changes. (For purposes of this discussion, assume that 192.168.75.158 is the IP address of the Primary computer and that 192.168.75.10 is the IP address of the Back-up computer.) 1.
