ESA VIDEO TERMINAL Description An ESA video terminal VT is a device that may be used to control or monitor a process or system. It has a set of keys or touch-buttons that the user may configure to send commands to the system itself. It also permits sending data to determine the procedure and display the data coming originated by it. -

Connections The following sections describe the connection possibilities between: A PC (Personal Computer) and an ESA Video terminal. An MCS or MCP drive and an ESA Video terminal. Several MCS or MCP drives and an ESA Video terminal. in order to establish serial line communication between all of them. RS422/RS232 BE ADAPTER Some connections (not all) will mention the adapter (RS422/RS232 BE), thus being necessary to describe it and its pinout at both ends. -

RS232 or RS422 serial line with a VT panel from ESA. The user is free to use this Fagor adapter or not. But, it should be used unless indicated otherwise because it makes the connection a lot easier. -

VT - drive connection Once the project has been transferred from the PC to the VT (ESA), an ESA video terminal may be connected to a single drive, thus establishing communication via the MSP serial port of the VT and the drive's RS232 serial port. In this type of communication, the following parameters must be set to certain values.
