5.7 Feed
5.7.1 Selecting the feed direction (Fig. 12)
Select the direction of the leadscrew (13) using the
feed direction lever (30) on the rear of the equipment.
Position 1 top:
Feed direction anti-clockwise
Position 2 center:
Feed direction off
Position 3 bottom:
Feed direction clockwise
5.7.2 Feed speed
Changing the gear wheels (Fig. 13 – 18)
The gear wheels must be selected accordingly to
achieve different feed speeds.
Undo the fastening screws (a) on the gear wheel
box (29) and remove it (Fig. 13).
Undo the fastening screws (b) on the gear wheel
shafts and take the gear wheels (c) off the shafts
(Fig. 14).
Undo the fastening nuts on the gear wheel
compensating holder (Fig. 15/Item d).
Select the gear wheels you need using Figures
16 – 18. The table (Fig. 18) shows the required
number of teeth (F) on the gear wheels for the
corresponding feed speed in mm per revolution
(E).
Fit the gear wheels on to the appropriate gear
wheel shafts and secure them using the fastening
screws (Fig. 14/Item b).
If only gear wheels A, B and D are needed for the
required transmission, you must place the spacer
sleeve (E) shown in Figure 17 before the gear
wheel on shaft III.
Adjust the gear wheel compensation holder and
the gear wheel shaft so that the gear wheels
move with a small amount of play. Now tighten
the fastening nuts on the gear wheel
compensating holder (d) against (Fig. 15).
5.8 Adjusting the tailstock (Fig. 19)
The tailstock (17) can be moved backwards and
forwards on the lathe bed (15).
To do this undo the lever for the tailstock
adjustment (18) and slide the tailstock (17) to the
required position.
Then tighten the lever for the tailstock adjustment
(18) again.

5.9 Fitting/Removing/Adjusting the quill
(Fig. 19-20)
The quill (20) holds the centering tip (21) which is
used to clamp and hold long workpieces. The quill
(20) can be moved forwards and backwards using the
crank handle (16). The clamp lever (19) can be used
to secure the quill (20) in the required position.
The rear of the centering tip (21) is conical and is held
in the quill (20) by clamping. To remove the centering
tip (21) release the clamp lever (19) and crank the
quill (20) as far to the rear as possible using the crank
handle (16). This pushes the centering tip (21) out of
its clamped position so that it can be removed.
Place the centering tip (21) in the quill (20) to fit it.
When the workpiece is clamped it will automatically
be secured in the quill (20).
A drill bit with an appropriate taper can be fitted in the
quill (20) instead of the centering pin (21), for
example for preparing a workpiece for internal
turning. There is a scale on the quill (20) which
indicates how deeply you are drilling into the
workpiece.
5.10 Three-jaw chuck safety guard
(Fig. 2/Item 37)
The safety guard on the three-jaw chuck (37) is
designed to protect the user and must be closed at all
times during operation. If the safety guard (37) is
open, it will not be possible to switch on the
equipment since the safety switch (Fig. 2 / Item 33)
on the rear is not actuated.
5.11 Cranks for transverse and hand feed
(Fig. 1/Item 8 and 12)
During lathe operation the turning tool is guided along
the workpiece using the cranks for transverse and
hand feed. There are scale rings on both cranks
which can be set to 0 when the turning tool touches
the workpiece so that the depth of the turning tool cut
can be measured.
To set the scale rings to 0, undo the grub screws in
the scale rings, turn them to 0 and then tighten the
grub screws again.
