PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS
INFLATOBALL
PESSARY
TM
Contains Latex Rubber
INSERTING • REMOVING • CLEANING THE PESSARY
CAUTION: This product contains natural rubber latex which may cause
allergic reactions.
Latex Rubber absorbs secretions and odors.
The Inflatoball
TM
pessary has only a small area for drainage of vaginal
secretion; it should therefore be removed and cleaned daily.
IMPORTANT
A pessary should not be worn in the presence of a vaginal infection. Should
you notice a heavier than usual vaginal discharge with a foul odor, with or
without vaginal itching or tenderness, remove pessary and call your health
care professional promptly.
Empty bladder (urinate) before inserting pessary.

TO INSERT

1. Wash your hands thoroughly. Deflate pessary by moving the bead to
closed end of the stem (see Figure 1). Apply light pressure with thumb
and fingers to force out any air that may be in pessary (see Figure 2).
2. Keep pessary deflated by continuing light pressure with thumb and fingers.
3. Now insert metal part of bulb into the air vent (see Figure 3).
Closed End

4. Hold the deflated pessary between the
thumb and fingers for insertion. If necessary
the leading edge of the INFLATOBALL may
be lubricated with TRIMO-SAN™.
CAUTION: Do not use petroleum (vaseline),
oil or wax based jelly or cream as they will
cause the pessary to deteriorate.
5. Insert pessary into the vagina so that only
the stem protrudes/hangs out from the vagina
(see Figure 4).
6. Inflate pessary by squeezing bulb (see
Figure 5).
7. Push small bead located at the tip of the stem
about 1 to 1½ inches forward. This will close
the air vent and will keep your pessary inflated
while it is worn (see Figure 6).
8. Remove the bulb from the air stem. The
stem can be tucked into the vagina.
The pessary should not move or be felt once
it is in place and inflated.

TO REMOVE PESSARY

Wash hands thoroughly.
1. Slip stem of pessary out of vagina.
2. Push bead down to its original position
(closed end) to allow air to escape from
the pessary (see Figure 1).
3. Now grasp the deflated pessary and
withdraw. DO NOT pull on the pessary stem.

TO CLEAN PESSARY

TM
1. Wash with mild soap and water.
2. Rinse thoroughly before reinserting.
3. Do not immerse bulb inflator in water.

PURPOSE OF TRIMO-SAN

1. To help restore and maintain normal vaginal acidity.
2. To coat the walls of the vagina with a lubricating film that helps to reduce
odor-causing bacteria.
Instructions are included with each TRIMO-SAN package.

FOLLOW-UP INSTRUCTIONS:

It is not unusual, after wearing a pessary, that it will be necessary to change
the size or shape of the pessary being worn. This is why it is so important to
follow this program:
• Report immediately any discomfort.
• Return within 24 hours for first examination.
• Return for second examination within three days.
• Return at four- to six-week intervals.
Note: Above schedule of follow-up examinations may be altered to fit the
needs of the individual patient.
WARNING: The Milex
result of a MEDICAL ALERT issued by the FDA, March 29, 1991, on allergic
reactions to latex-containing medical devices, the following recommendations
are made:
• Remove pessary and call your health care professional if you have any
symptoms of sensitivity to latex rubber such as: itching, rash, wheezing
when wearing rubber gloves or inflating a balloon.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Supportive pessaries are contraindicated in presence of vaginal, cervical or
pelvic infections or lacerations.
The Inflatoball (Latex Rubber) pessary should NOT be used in a patient using
ANY vaginal hormone cream or suppository, including Premarin
or suppository.
Vaginal hormonal products contain a wax base which will deteriorate latex rubber.
Use only TRIMO-SAN; other materials have not been tested for
compatibility.

DO NOT OVER INFLATE:

Over inflation distorts and weakens latex. If your pessary "balloons" out, it is an
indication it has been over inflated and you need a larger size Inflatoball or a
different type of pessary.
No credit or replacement for pessary will be allowed because of over inflation
or if used contrary to above restrictions.
