AUTOMATIC ICE MAKER
The automatic ice maker is mounted in the freezer compartment. It is attached to the auger motor and
cradle assembly with two screws and may be removed for servicing.
The ice maker is designed to produce ice cubes automatically. The length of the time between harvest
cycles will vary, depending on load condition, door openings, ambient temperature and freezer
temperature. These factors must be taken into consideration when checking the ice production rate.
The ice maker is wired to active and will harvest ice in the refrigeration or defrost cycles.
The water valve and solenoid assembly is mounted in the compressor compartment.
A polyethylene tube extends from the water valve up the rear wall of the refrigerator to a water inlet
spout that directs the water into the fill trough. A seal around the inlet tube prevents the migration of
moisture into the freezer compartment.
Front Cover
The front cover, made of moulded plastic, encloses the operating mechanism of the ice maker and
protects it from moisture. It is essential that the cover be in place on an operating ice maker to protect
against possible contact with the mechanism by the user.(See Figure D1)
COMPONENT PARTS OF ICE MAKER
Ice Mould
The ice mould is die cast aluminium with the ice maker thermostat making contact with the front
surface. The mould has a semi-circular interior partitioned into equal size compartments. Water enters
at the side of the mould through a fill trough. Openings in each partition permit all compartments to
fill. A film of silicone grease on the top edge of the mould prevents syphoning of water by capillary
action.
