Step 8 Connect Onboard I/O

Onboard I/O
The Atlantis motherboard has:
two serial ports (COM1 and COM2),
a parallel port (LPT),
an IDE controller on the PCI bus. The primary IDE connector is IDE1.
The secondary connector is IDE2.
a floppy controller (FDD).
The serial and parallel port connectors are described below.
Conflicts
AMIBIOS minimizes conflicts between onboard and offboard I/O devices.
AMIBIOS automatically checks the adapter cards installed in the expansion
slots on the Atlantis motherboard for a hard disk or floppy controller and
serial or parallel ports.
Serial Ports
COM1 and COM2 are DB9 connectors that provide an AT-compatible serial
port interface. Connect the cables supplied with the motherboard to the DB9
serial connectors. The serial port base I/O port address and other serial port
settings can be selected in Peripheral Setup in AMIBIOS Setup. The serial
connector pinout is shown below.
