Intellex
This Application Note provides recommended design practices when implementing Pan, Tilt,
Zoom dome control using the Intellex (software versions 2.3 and higher) Digital Video
Management System. Three configurations are listed below and additional details are provided as
the document progresses.
1. Dome control via ADTT16E and Network Client™ (Software versions 2.3 and higher)
2. Direct Sensormatic RS-422 dome control using serial port or USB connector on the rear
of the Intellex box. (Software versions 2.3 and higher)
3. Intellex-to-Matrix Switcher based Dome Pan, Tilt, Zoom control. (Software versions 3.0
and higher)
Each of the configurations below illustrates the interconnection between system components
including wiring details, software configuration settings/options, and required accessories for
proper installation.
Dome Control via ADTT16E
The ADTT16E SensorNet Dome Controller may be connected to the Intellex RS-232 port, as
shown below, via its' EIM (Electronic Interconnect Module). Dome control commands are
transmitted from the Network Client software GUI to the Intellex and processed by the Intellex for
transmission to the EIM via its RS-232 port.

Direct RS-422 Dome Control Direct Sensormatic RS-422 control may be achieved by connecting the dome to an available USB connector on the rear of the Intellex unit via a USB-to-RS-232 dongle and RS-232-to- RS-422 converter device.
  • Page 4 For proper dome control operation the Intellex software settings within the SETUP – CAMERAS – CAMERA CONTROL sub-menu should be set for RS-422 Dome as illustrated in Figure 2a. Our RJ860AP 10-Position RS-422 J-Box and RJ856UD Single Position RS-422 J-Box may be used to repeat the data signal, extend the cabling distance, or implement a home run design.
