From version 5.0, the MS1000 release includes two editions, MS1000 Express Edition and MS1000 Standard Edition. The MS1000 Standard Edition requires a Dongle to operate the sonar heads, The MS1000 Express does not require a Dongle to operate a sonar head,but with limited functions. The following table compares the functions of the two editions.

Introduction Sonar head telemetry The sonar head can be connected to the MS1000 Processor using either the Interface Unit supplied by KML, or in special cases, a user supplied telemetry system. 1.4.1 Option A - KML Interface KML supplies MS1000 Interface units for scanning sonar heads. These units provide power for the sonar head and convert the USB or RS232 telemetry to RS485 to allow for extended cable length and multi-drop configurations.

Note that the Hardware Synchronization is only useful and applicable when the heads are attached to separate telemetry lines.

The 3D profiling points can be saved to ASCII XYZ format and imported by most third party 3D modeling software. For fixed installation, positioning, pitch, and roll data can be correlated in MS1000 in real-time or post processed with BathyXYZ software.

6.2.1 Setting the MS1000 Windows PC IP Address To set the MS1000 Windows PC IP address to 192.168.0.1: 1. Click Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections Right-click on the "Local Area Connection n" which will be connected to the Ethernet sonar head, and then select Properties.
1. Get an IP address from the network Administrator which is not used for any other Ethernet device. 2. Run "ConfE.exe" from the MS1000 installation directory. 3. Click "Search" button to search the Ethernet sonar heads on the network.
