Introduction Sonar head telemetry The sonar head can be connected to the MS1000 Processor using either the Interface Unit supplied by KML, or in special cases, a user supplied telemetry system. 1.4.1 Option A - KML Interface KML supplies MS1000 Interface units for scanning sonar heads. These units provide power for the sonar head and convert the USB or RS232 telemetry to RS485 to allow for extended cable length and multi-drop configurations.
  • Page 16 Kongsberg Mesotech Ltd. operator manuals / MS1000 For special configurations or very long data links the user can employ a digital telemetry subsystem that accepts serial data at each end. These subsystems include Fiber Optic extension to serial telemetry links, user supplied RS232/RS485 converters or similar devices.
