TOMAHAWK FAULT FINDING CHART

Possible Solutions
Rectify
Tighten belt
Adjust drum away from backplate using adjusters
Check connections and tractor hydraulics
Turn motor with belts slack and hoses disconnected
Replace motor if seized
Replace bearings or complete rollers
Clear material and adjust drum closer to backplate if
problem continues
Check belt tension
Sharpen or replace blades
Tilt drum at steeper angle - shorten toplink
Increase oil flow rate from tractor to Tomahawk
Rotate drum in correct direction
Fit more bale grippers in drum
Check slip clutch on PTO is not slipping
Ensure PTO is rotating at correct operating speed
Remove bale grippers if fitted
Peel a layer off outside of bale before loading in drum
Turn or replace hammers / blades
See above - rotor speed too low
Lengthen toplink
Sharpen knife sections
Check setting and adjust
Lower machine, lengthen toplink and rotate drum one
or two turns.
Increase oil flow rate from tractor to Tomahawk
Check drum drive belt tension
