Installation and operation
The sail winch can be mounted in a standing or lying position by way of the plates on its sides. The winch is
protected against spray-water but not completely watertight.
If a computerized transmitter is in use, the number of revolutions can be set by way of the servo travel setting
function. Be sure that winches are not limited mechanically. Otherwise sail winches can be damaged or even
cause damage to the sheet rigging system.
Rigging lines
Endless line
The winch line runs from the drum (spool A) of the dual-spool winch drum to a deflection pulley and from
there back to the drum (spool B). This requires that sufficient line must be wound onto the drum by hand for
the „fully paid out" position (about 1 turn more than winding travel). This produces a pseudo endless line that
always remains taut because the length of line unwound from one spool is always exactly the same as the
length wound on the other spool. A small compensation spring must be tied into the winch line to compensa-
te for diameter changes on the drum spools due to the amount of line wound/unwound. Be sure that sheet
forces do not have an effect on this spring.
