Cause/solution
R The ringer volume is turned off. Adjust the ringer volume
(page 17, 36).
R Night mode is turned on. Turn it off (page 17, 40).
R The ringer volume is turned off by pressing and holding 0 ( )
on the handset. Press and hold 0 ( ) again to turn it on
(page 17).
R The dialing mode may be set incorrectly. Change the setting
(page 15).
R The answer by voice command feature is turned off. To turn it
on, see page 21.
R Baby monitor is set to "On". Turn off the baby monitor feature
(page 42).
R This situation might happen due to a false detection of ambient
noise (dog barking, TV sound, etc.). Move the unit further away
from the noise sources.
R If you are using other telephone that has Talking Call Display
feature turned on, it may also trigger false detection. Turn the
Talking Call Display feature off on the other telephone.
R To minimize false detection, decrease the sensitivity level of the
answer by voice command (page 21, 38).
R You cannot use voice paging if other units are in use.
Cause/solution
R While on charger, the MTELE.BLK.N key is not available. Lift the
handset from the charger.
R If Auto talk feature is set to on, the call is answered
automatically when the handset is lifted from the charger during
an incoming call. Turn off the auto talk feature (page 38).

R If your unit is connected to any additional telephone equipment
such as a Call Display box or cordless telephone line jack, plug
the unit directly into the wall jack.
R If you use a DSL/ADSL service, we recommend connecting a
DSL/ADSL filter between the base unit and the telephone line
jack. Contact your DSL/ADSL provider for details.
R The name display service may not be available in some areas.
Contact your phone service provider for details.
R Other telephone equipment may be interfering with this unit.
Disconnect the other equipment and try again.
R Depending on your phone service provider, the unit may display
or announce the caller's information at the 2nd ring or later.
R Move closer to the base unit.
