Games are wonderful ways to get your
child thinking! There are so many fun-
filled activities and games you can play
with your child – just like Kasey does –
to expand the learning! Here are a few
suggestions you can try at home.
Treasure Hunt Game -
up your own treasure hunt game. Place a special treat for your child in a box (try a
healthy snack) and hide it. Then, make a map for your child to follow through your
house. Use simple drawings to show which room is next and perhaps an activity to
do in each. Maybe your child's first stop is the bedroom to put away a toy. Then it's
on to the bathroom sink to wash hands. Next, go to the kitchen in search of a drink
in the refrigerator. Finally, look behind the living room sofa, – it's the treasure!
So much to talk about -
with your child. You can talk about familiar numbers, letters and colors in your
child's environment.
- the number of people in your immediate and extended family
- the ages of people in your child's family
- the first letters of the names of each person in your child's family
- your telephone number and home address
- the color of your child's house; bedroom; favorite clothes and shoes;
the family pet; family car
- the spelling of your child's name
