Kinder-Ready Activities

•

Let's Bake Shape Cookies -

activities. Help your child learn about shapes by baking shape

cookies. Your child can follow a recipe along with you. Take turns

adding the ingredients. Your child identifies the shape when cutting

the cookie out of the dough and then again when eating this

yummy treat!

Exercising is Fun -

develop coordination. Make up your own exercising and stretching

routines! Or, teach your child a favorite dance.

Let's Sort -

Categorization is an important skill for math and

science. Ask your child to sort socks by color and size or, find other

things around the house to match and sort (canned goods).

What's This? -

Build your child's vocabulary. Help your child

identify objects around the house along with recognizing words.

Put a label on appliances, furniture, food, rooms of the house, etc.,

and help your child associate the word with the object.

It's Fun to Make a Collage -

project. Cut out pictures of your favorite things from magazines

and ads. First let your child select a picture, then let someone

else take a turn. Glue the pictures to a piece of paper for a

fun collage!
