2. Main Functions
2.1 Operation
The main function of the motor is used to drive a fire shutter up and down with a brake release
function to close the fire shutter during emergency.
2.2 Motor's Brake Release Function
When a fire alarm or a smoke detector signal is received, the motor will automatically release
the brake to close via gravity. If the backup battery switch is ON, the motor will close via brake
release with or without incoming power supply. If the backup battery switch is OFF, the motor
will close via electrical operation with incoming power supply.
The brake can also be released by pulling down by hand or through a fusible link the brake
release lever on the motor
2.3 Fusible Link
A glass bulb or low temperature alloy fusible link can be installed onto to the motor for
mechanical release during a fire.
2.4 Manual Override
In an event of a power failure or absent of power, the motor can be operated manually by
turning the manual crank located on the front of the motor housing. Fit in the crank handle
provide onto the crank shaft, then turn the handle to operate the motor up and down. The
speed may be very slow due to gear reduction.
2.5 Limit Switch
The motor is equipped with a built in limit switch. It is located within the control box.
2.6 Status Feedback (BMS)
3 status feedbacks are provided, Up (fully open), Down (fully closed) and Error (malfunction,
fault). Error feedback is given with there is no incoming power to the motor. All status feedback
are normally open (NO) dry contact.
2.7 Warning Light
Warning light can be connected to the motor for warning notification. Only 24VDC light to be
used. The light will be on when the shutter is not in the fully opened or fully closed position,
