4. oPeration
4.1.
ensure that you read, understand and apply the safety and operational instructions before proceeding and take care to not touch the
clamps together when the unit is plugged into the vehicle's eobd socket.
4.2.
Before commencing, make sure the 12Volt back-up battery to be used has sufficient charge, at least 12Volts.
ensure that the vehicle's ignition is switched off. locate the vehicle's eobd socket and plug the VS2072.V2 plug into it.
note: If the voltage of the vehicle's battery is low, it is probable that codes will already have been lost, however if there is some
power then the following procedure can still be carried out.
4.3.
Using the back-up 12Volt battery, connect the red clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal and the black clamp to the negative (-)
terminal. The led should now illuminate red. The vehicle's on-board electronics are now powered by the back-up battery and the
vehicle's battery can now be disconnected.
note: If the red led does noT illuminate, check the clamps to the back-up battery and condition of the fuse in the VS2072.V2 fuse
holder, see fig.1. If fuse is blown, replace with identical 5A fuse.
4.4.
Disconnect the vehicle's battery by first removing the clamp from the negative (-) terminal and then from the positive (+) terminal.
4.5.
carry out any work on the vehicle required.
4.6.
Reconnect the vehicle's battery by connecting to the positive (+) terminal first and then to the negative (-) terminal.
4.7.
Disconnect the back-up battery by first disconnecting from the negative (-) terminal and then from the positive (+) terminal.
4.8.
disconnect the VS2072.V2 unit by unplugging it from the vehicle's eobd socket.
4.9.
Store the unit carefully in a safe, dry, childproof location
