  • Page 21 MAINTENANCE SHARPENING THE BLADE (See Fig. 26-27) For best mowing performance, the mower blade must be kept sharp. A dull blade does not cut grass evenly and overloads the motor. Under normal circumstances, sharpening the blade twice during the mowing season is usually sufficient. However, if your lawn has sandy soil, more frequent sharpening may be required.

    TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Possible Cause Solution Carriage bolts not seated properly. Adjust the height of the handle and make sure the carriage bolts are seated properly. Cam locks not tightened. Tighten cam locks. Reconnect the cord and use the cord retainer to keep the cord close to the motor/blade control.
