There is a factory installed electrical box to accommodate the connections. (see wiring diagram pg. 20) The fireplace comes complete with a battery back-up system that will operate the fireplace for a limited time only in the event of a power outage.

This is pre-wired to the factory installed electrical box for the electrician. Some jurisdictions may require you install a service switch in the factory supplied electrical box or a remote location.
