3.1
Required Standards
It is important that all gas appliances are installed by competent persons, in accordance with the
relevant requirements of the local laws and regulations. Failure to install gas appliances correctly
could lead to prosecution.
THE RELEVANT REGULATIONS ARE:
Gas Safety (Installations and Use) Regulations 1994;
BS 6230 Specification for the Installation of Gas Fired Forced Convection Air Heaters for Commercial
and Industrial Space Heating of Rated input Exceeding 60kW;
BS 6891
Installation of Low Pressure Pipes up to 28mm (R1) or
Institute of Gas Engineers Documents IGE/UP/1 and IGE/UP/2 as appropriate;
BS 5588
Part 11 Fire Precautions In the Design and Construction of Buildings;
Building Regulations; The I.E.E Regulations; The Health and Safety at Work etc. Acts; Any
Requirements of the Local Authority, Fire Officer and Insurance Company.
The installation will be similar to the one shown in Figure 3.1.
AIR HEATERS SHOULD NOT BE INSTALLED IN CORROSIVE ATMOSPHERES
i.e. NEAR PLATING OR DEGREASING PLANTS OR IN AREAS WHERE THERE IS A FIRE
CONSULT LOCAL REGULATIONS FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON HAZARDOUS AREAS.
The cooling equipment should be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and
any local installation rules.
3.2
General Installation information
3.2.1
Handling
The Dual-Air unit is provided with 6 eye bolts positioned at the four corners and the centre of the unit.
The unit may be lifted from these points using a support cradle to prevent side load from damaging
the panels.
The lifting points that form part of the CUHD unit heater are not capable of supporting the
weight of the complete unit.
