The standby mode is the starting point for activating the other two operating
modes. In the standby mode the instrument keys have the following func-
tions:
– The analysis mode is activated by pressing the <Start> key (for at least
2 seconds).
– The menu mode is activated by pressing the <Stop> key.
– The time elapsed since the last start of the analysis mode and the cur-
rent measured values are indicated in the display by pressing the
<Actual> key.
– The stable values last recorded are displayed by pressing the <Stable>
key. If stable values have not yet been recorded, this key has no func-
tion.

Analysis mode
The analysis mode is activated by pressing the <Start> key until the
analyzing light ( yellow LED) starts flashing. The time elapsed since
activation of the analysis mode and the current values for the water
activity (aw) and the temperature (°C) are indicated on the display.
In the analysis mode the instrument checks by how much the measured
values vary within a set interval of time. The time interval to be selected
depends on the material being measured, and is established on the basis
of the humidity stability factor in the menu mode (see chapter 5.2).
If these measured value variations lie within a certain tolerance, the so-
called stable display is activated. A beeper sounds and the green LED
(OK) lights up. The measured stable values and the time taken for these
values to be reached are indicated on the display.
In the analysis mode the instrument keys have the following functions:
– The analysis mode can be re-started at any time by pressing the
<Start> key (for at least 2 seconds), thereby resetting the clock.
– The analysis mode is interrupted by pressing the <Stop> key (for at
least 2 seconds), and the clock is reset. The instrument then returns to
the standby mode.
– The time elapsed since the start of the analysis mode and the current
values are indicated on the display by pressing the <Actual> key. A
flashing arrow in front of the aw value indicates that the stable value
analysis has not yet been completed.
– If a stable value has not yet been recorded, the message "ANALYZING:
NOT STABLE YET" appears when the <Stable> key is pressed,
otherwise the recorded stable values are displayed.
