    This chapter introduces the G-120 and prepares you to use the ZyXEL utility. 1.1 About Your G-120 The G-120 is an IEEE 802.11b/g compliant wireless LAN adapter. The ZyXEL utility is a tool that helps you configure your G-120. See the appendix for detailed product specifications.

    G-120, the G-120’s wireless communications are accessible to any wireless networking device that is in the coverage area. Note: You can only use WEP encryption if you set the G-120 to Ad-hoc mode. See the appendices for more detailed information about wireless security.

WPA2 (IEEE 802.11i) is a wireless security standard that defines stronger encryption, authentication and key management than WPA. Key differences between WPA(2) and WEP are improved data encryption and user authentication.

    ZyXEL G-120 User’s Guide TKIP uses 128-bit keys that are dynamically generated and distributed by the authentication server. AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) is a block cipher that uses a 256-bit mathematical algorithm called Rijndael. They both include a per-packet key mixing function, a Message Integrity Check (MIC) named Michael, an extended initialization vector (IV) with sequencing rules, and a re-keying mechanism.
