Real-Time Input - Zoom MRS-1266 Operation Manual

The quantize value is the smallest unit for real-time input/
step input of a pattern. The default setting is "16" (a
sixteenth note). In this condition, each pad hit is stored in the
rhythm pattern as a sixteenth note.

Turn the dial to select the desired quantize value.
The following settings are available.
4 Quarter note
8 Eighth note
12 Eighth triplet note
16 Sixteenth note

• 1 tick is 1/48 of quarter note
• The quantization setting applies to all rhythm patterns.
• When using step input to enter a rhythm pattern, the
quantize value can be changed at any time, and the above
operation is not necessary.

When the setting has been made, press the [EXIT]
key.
The new quantization setting is accepted, and the unit
returns to the rhythm pattern edit menu.

To set the rhythm pattern time signature, use the
cursor left/right keys to bring up the indication
"EDIT TimSig" on the display, and press the
[ENTER] key.
The current time signature setting appears on the display.

Turn the dial to select the beat, and then press the
[EXIT] key.
The setting range is 1/4 - 8/4.

To set the length (number of measures) of the
rhythm pattern, use the cursor left/right keys to
select the indication "EDIT BarLen", and press the
[ENTER] key.
The current length of the pattern is shown as number of
measures.

Turn the dial to select the desired setting, and
press the [EXIT] key.

Press the [EXIT] key twice. The display returns to
the screen of step 3.

Real-time input

For real-time input, you play the rhythm pattern on the pads
of the MRS-1266. This section explains the input procedure
for the drum track and bass track separately.
◆ Drum track real-time input

At the rhythm pattern screen, make sure that an
empty rhythm pattern number is selected.

Press the [DRUM] key.
The key lights up, and the drum track is selected.
When you hit a pad in this condition, the sound of the drum
kit selected for the drum track is heard. A drum kit comprises
36 drum/percussion sounds, out of which 12 are assigned to
the pads at any one time.

As necessary, press the [BANK/OCTAVE] key and
turn the dial to switch pad banks.
The group of sounds assigned to pads 1 - 12 is called a "pad
bank". When the drum track is selected, you can select
among three pad banks to change the drum/percussion
sounds that are played by the pads.
