Safety instructions

WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons,
observe the following:
• Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If you
have questions, contact the manufacturer.
• Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power off at service panel and
lock the service disconnecting means to prevent power from being
switched on accidentally. When the service disconnecting means cannot
be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device such as a tag, to
the service panel.

All personnel must read and follow every instruction in this manual. It is the
responsibility of the employer to make sure that this is followed. If you are not
sure about the safety procedures, please refer to local legal legislation or the
safety officer of your company.
More specified safety procedures - legal, local or from your company - can be
applicable when the fan is in operation. This manual does not supply these
procedures. This manual only gives all necessary information about the fan
itself.
Most fans have a sound pressure level of less than 70 dB(A) at 50Hz / 60Hz.
Values for specific machines will be found in the relevant technical
specifications.
Follow the following safety instructions:
• Keep limbs, long hair and loose clothing away from rotating parts.
• When you assemble the fan, always follow the instructions supplied in
this manual.
• It is not permitted to stop or remove the safety precautions.
• Refer to section "Maintenance and Maintenance Schedule" for more in-
formation about when you must do the maintenance of the fan. No main-
tenance may decrease the safety of the fan.
• If the safety precautions are damaged, do not use the fan.
• If there is a malfunction, do not use the fan.
• Repair a damaged fan, before you put it in operation again.
There can be safety labels on the fan. You must put new safety labels on the
fan if:
• You cannot read the text or symbols clearly.
• A label is damaged.
Contact your supplier to order new safety labels.

Install a wire guard if you install the fan below a height of 2,7m.
Make sure that it is installed in a stable position.
Personnel
This manual refers to different types of personnel. Each type of personnel has
different tasks and responsibilities.
The types of personnel are:
• Operators
• Maintenance personnel
Operators
Only let adults operate this fan. All operators must know and follow the
procedures in this manual. No special education is necessary to operate this
fan.
Each operator must perform these tasks:
• Operate the fan.
• Monitor the correct operation of the fan.
Maintenance personnel
Maintenance personnel must know the risks of their tasks. All maintenance
personnel can do the tasks of an operator.
Also, all maintenance personnel must have:
• A technical education background (at least a Secondary Vocational Edu-
cation).
• Experience with the maintenance and assembly of fans.
Maintenance personnel must perform these tasks:
• Assembly of the fan.
• Maintenance of the fan.
Personal Protective Equipment
CAUTION
Wear safety gloves and safety glasses during maintenance of
the fan.
