Jump Starting

If the battery is discharged, the
engine can be started w ith jum per
cables (minimum cable cross section
is 25 mm2) and the (12 V) battery of
another vehicle.
Proceed as follows:
1. Turn key to steering lock position
" 0 " .
2. First connect jum per cables to the
positive battery term inals and then
to the negative terminals.
3. Start and run engine of jum per
vehicle at high idle.
4. Start engine of the disabled
vehicle in the usual manner.
5. A fte r the engine has started, first
remove jum per cables from the
negative battery term inals and
then from the positive terminals.
Instructions:
A discharged battery can freeze at
approx. - 1 0 ° C / + 14° F. In all cases
it m ust be thawed out before jum per
cables are used.
Never lean over batteries while jump
starting.
Warning!
Battery fluid contains sulfuric acid. Do
not allow this fluid to com e in contact
w ith eyes, skin, or clothing. In case it
does, immediately flush affected area
w ith water, if necessary seek medical
help.
A battery will also produce hydrogen
gas, w hich is flammable and explo­
sive. Keep flames or sparks away
from battery, i.e. im proper connection
of jum per cables, cigarette sm oking,
e t c . .

Unlocking of the Filler Flap

If the central locking system does not
release the fuel filler flap autom ati­
cally, pull handle in panel and fold
down panel. Then pull back the
connecting rod between the vacuum
element and door tab.
