Charging/Replacing the Batteries
Charging the Battery Pack
Before the first operation, charge the battery pack 7
provided. The battery pack can be charged in the unit
only with the charging unit 30 supplied.
Insert the charging plug of the charging unit 30 into
the socket 9 and connect the charging unit to the
power mains (use an adapter if necessary). On the
charging unit 30, the red indicator lights. The charging
of the empty battery pack takes approx. 10 hours.
Never connect the charging unit 30 without the
battery pack 7 inserted!
The charging process is not automatically ended,
therefore unplug the charging unit from the mains after
successful charging. The charging unit 30 and the bat-
tery pack 7 are protected against overloading.
A new battery or a battery that has not been used for
a longer time produces full power only after approxi-
mately five charge/discharge cycles.
Recharging the Battery Pack
Do not recharge the batteries after each use, other-
wise their capacity will be reduced. Recharge the bat-
tery pack when the battery charging indicator 14
blinks or lights continuously.
To maintain the maximum capacity, the battery pack
should be completely discharged from time to time.
For this purpose, leave the unit switched on for a long-
er time.
When the battery pack 7 is empty, the unit can be op-
erated from the charging unit 30 when it is connected
to the power mains. For this purpose, switch off the
unit, charge the battery pack for approx. 5 min and
switch the unit on again with the charging unit con-
nected.
Changing the Battery Pack
The battery pack 7 supplied can be replaced with oth-
er rechargeable batteries or with alkali-manganese-
batteries.
To remove the battery pack, turn the latch 4 of the bat-
tery compartment to the
battery compartment cover 3. Insert either a new bat-
tery pack, other rechargeable batteries or normal bat-
teries. Pay attention to correct polarisation when in-
serting.
Always replace the complete set of battery. Use only
batteries of a single manufacturer with the same ca-
pacity.
A safety feature ensures that only the battery pack 7
can be charged in the unit. Other rechargeable batter-
ies must be charged outside the unit.
