BATTERY WARNING Hydrogen gas produced by the battery may explode if exposed to open This battery is maintenance free and checking the fluid level is not required. It is flame or sparks. Keep the area ventilated and free from naked flames. advisable to check the charge of the battery periodically.
COOLING SYSTEM Coolant information To protect the cooling system aluminum parts (engine and radiator) from rust Radiator Hoses and corrosion, the use of corrosion and rust inhibitors chemicals in the co- olant is essential. If rust inhibitors were not used, over a period of time the Check the radiator hoses for cuts or deterioration, and the connections for radiator will be corroded.

2. Remove the bolts (C) (left and right). 5. Close the fuel tap F and remove the fuel tub G. WARNING Becareful to the fuel loss when you remove the fuel tub, the fuel is highly flammable. Stop the engine, before to remove the fuel tank. Take care to be inside a well-ventilated area that there is no sparks or flame anywhere near the working zone.
Element Cleaning WARNING Clean the element in a well-ventilated area, and make sure that there are no sparks or flame anywhere near the working area (this includes any ap- pliance with a pilot light). Do not use gasoline to clean the element becau- se could cause an explosion.
Install the filter in the cage and pack the filter lip with grease (A), to ensure good sealing and prevent dirt entrance. Install the air filter in the motorcycle and make sure it is correctly secured. THROTLE CABLE Check that the throttle grip turns smoothly. Check that the throttle grip has 2-3 mm of free play.
CLUTCH EXHAUST SYSTEM Proper clutch lever play is 2-3 mm. Play increases with the clutch wear and The exhaust and the silencer reduce noise and carry the gasses away from thus requires adjustment. the driver. If the exhaust is damaged, rusted, dented or split then change it. Change the When there is too much play, first try to adjust the level of the clutch lever.
DRIVE CHAIN GUIDE NOTE In muddy or humid conditions, the mud gets inside the chain increasing ten- sion and may cause the chain to break. To prevent this, adjust the chain to The drive chain must be checked, adjusted, and lubricated in accordance with 30-50 mm of space between the chain and rocker arm whenever necessary.

The brake fluid should Check the brake for good braking power and no brake drag. also be changed if it becomes contaminated with dirt or water.
If the thickness of either pad, front and rear, is less than 1 mm, replace both pads as a set. Pad replacement should be carried out only by an authorized FANTIC MOTOR dealer. STEERING The steering should always be kept adjusted so that the handlebar will turn freely but without free play.
FRONT FORK Check the steering again, and readjust if necessary. Install the removed parts. The front fork should always be adjusted for the rider´s weight and road con- ditions. The adjustments must be performed in 4 steps: STEERING BLOCKAGE Air pressure: air pressure affects the fork travel. The air pressure increases as the fork heats up, in other words it varies as a function of time of ope- ration.
Rebound dampening adjustment MARZOCCHI Ø48 CAUTION The suspension tubes, both right and left, must be adjusted evenly. To adjust the rebound, turn the adjusting screw located at the bottom of the front fork. Adjust the rebound to suit the rider’s preference under determined condi- tions.

CLEANING 1- Preparation for washing Before washing the motorcycle, precautions must be taken to prevent water from entering the following parts of the motorcycle. Exhaust: Cover it with a plastic bag tightened with rubber bands. Clutch and brake levers, hand grips, and engine stop button: Cover these parts with plastic bags.

LUBRICATION Lubricate the points shown here (see table lubricants pag. 59)., apply either engine oil or grease, periodically or whenever the vehicle has been operated under wet or rainy conditions, and especially after using high water pressure. Before lubricating each part, remove any rusty spots with rust remover and wipe off any grease, oil, or dirt.
Drive Chain Lubrication The recommended viscosity is SAE 5 W-40. If it’s not possible, lookat the lower table to find another viscosity. Lubricate the drive chain after driving on wet terrein or when the chain looks dry. A high viscosity oil is preferred rather than a lower viscosity because it Checking the oil level and making the changes periodically are twovery im- will stick to the chain longer and lubricate the chain better.

SUSPENSION TUNE-UP This adjustment is very critical because if an improperly tuned suspension will keep even the best rider from attaining the full benefit of his machine´s ability. Check the suspension in accordance to the rider and the terrain conditions: If the motorcycle is new, break-in the suspension with at least one hour of riding before making any setting evaluations or changes.

STORAGE For extended storage of the motorcycle, you must do the following: Clean the motorcycle thoroughly. Start the engine for about 5 minutes to warm up the transmission oil and then drain it (refer to the transmission section). Fill with new transmission oil. Empty the fuel tank (gasoline will deteriorate if left too long).
