Alarm Device Combination
1 Applications
The SAG-24 alarm device is a combination of siren
and strobelight. It is used as external alarm device in
alarm systems. Tampering actions at the device are
prevented by an anti-tamper housing contact and a
wall tear-off loop.
2 Safety Notes
This device is in accordance with the EC directive
89/336/EEC for electromagnetic compatibility.
All connections have to be made by authorized,
skilled personnel only!
Do not use any strong detergents or chemicals for
cleaning.
If the device is used for other purposes than orig-
inally intended, or if it is wrongly connected or not
repaired by an expert, no liability can be assumed
for any probable damage.
Shall the device definitively be put out of operation,
same has to be disposed of in a local recycling
plant.
3 Grounding the Device
For grounding of the housing connect a Cu conductor
of ≥ 1.5 mm
2
to one of the screws
and connect it with the protection
wire (ground) of the building's power supply.
If the device is mounted close to an antenna sys-
tem with grounding according to the German VDE
0855 regulations (or according to the safety regula-
tions of the corresponding country), connect the hous-
ing via a Cu conductor of ≥ 16 mm
grounding.
Important! If possible, do not mount the device to
a bracket with a wall distance of more than 40 cm, to
a chimney, to a mast (e. g. antenna mast) or to a
stand-alone column. Also avoid mounting in a height
exceeding the roof height, to the top edge of the
house or in a height of more than 18 m above the
ground.
If mounting to above mentioned places is inevi-
table, the housing has to be connected directly via a
Cu conductor of ≥ 16 mm
with the protection wire of
2
the house's power supply. If necessary, protect the
device against lightning according to the German
VDE 0185 regulations or according to the regulations
of the corresponding country.

4 Mounting the Device
The device should be mounted to an even wall sur-
face.
1) Loosen the screw at the front panel of the device
(figure 1), push the front panel slightly to the top
and let it tip to the front (figure 2). The front panel
can keep hanging on the housing.
2) Loosen both fastening screws of the electronic
component (b) and fold down the electronic com-
ponent (figure 3). Loosen the plug-type connector
(a) between strobelight and electronic component.
Remove the electronic component completely.
3) The four holes at the rear panel of the device are
intended for mounting the device (see figure 4).
Mark four drill holes at the wall for fixing the unit as
well as one drill hole for fixing the tear-off loop [(c)
in fig. 3] and drill.
4) Mount the housing's rear panel onto the wall.
5) Connect the device via the clamping strip to the
alarm centre. Corresponding details can be found
in chapter 5.
6) After connection put the electronic component into
the rear panel of the housing and re-establish the
plug connection between strobelight and electronic
component. Then fold up the electronic component
and fix it with both screws onto the housing.
7) Fix the tear-off loop through the opening of the
housing onto the wall.
(see figure 4)
8) Fold up the front panel, put it in on the top and fix
it with the screw.

5 Connecting the Device to the Alarm Centre
The device is connected to the alarm centre via the
clamping strip (see figure 5). The supply line from the
alarm device to the alarm centre has either to be
covered in the access area or has to be provided with
protecting tubes.
1) Connect the power supply (12 V ) for the siren to
the screw terminals 1 and 2 and connect the power
supply (12 V ) for the strobelight to the screw ter-
minals 3 and 4. Pay attention to the correct polar-
ity (see imprint on the screw terminals).
2) To protect the device against tampering, same can
be connected into an NC anti-tamper line of the
alarm centre.
With an anti-tamper line without terminating resis-
tor, lead the line via terminals 5 and 7.
With an anti-tampering line with terminating resis-
tor (series/parallel loops) guide the line via clamps
5 and 6.
