Mounting the VM

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cables from their connectors on the BTS and label them
for identification.
Mount the VM in the predetermined location and secure in position using the six bolts or
screws.
Connecting the
RF cables
Connect the RF cables using the following procedure:

VM Alarm
connections
Plug the connector on the alarm cable into its socket on the VM (the connector will only
fit the socket in one position). If multiple VMs are to be connected, wire the alarm cables
in accordance with the preferred option (see VM alarm connections).
Connect the other end of the alarm cable(s) to the BTS. Refer to the appropriate section
of the M-Cell 6 Service Manual for information regarding connecting external alarms to
the M-Cell 6 BTS.
VM Power
connections
Plug the connector on the dc power cable into its socket on the VM (the connector will
only fit the socket in one position).
Connect the other end of the power cable to the local –48 V dc supply.

WARNING
Check that the BTS is unable to transmit RF power before disconnecting the
coaxial cables.
Connect one end of each of the new coaxial cables to the connectors on the BTS
side of the VM.
Connect the other ends of the cables from the VM to the appropriate Tx or Rx
connectors on the BTS.
Connect the coaxial cables that were previously disconnected from the BTS to the
appropriate connectors on the antenna side of the VM.
